Wilcoxen Announces Resignation (December 1, 2016)
After serving Principia College as a cross-country coach for 16 years and a track and field coach for 10 years, head coach Chuck Wilcoxen has announced his resignation and will be moving on to other endeavors. Wilcoxen will return for the NCAA DIII Cross Country National Championships next fall at Principia in order to be the meet director for that event.....MORE

This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is a women's basketball contest between Iowa Wesleyan University and Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. Game time is set for 12 p.m. EST and you can watch the game live.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College renovations on the Woodward Center continues with progress being made. The Woodward Center is the main athletic building on the Blackburn campus and since the summer has been undergoing renovations. The previous swimming pool has been filled in and leveled for the addition of a fitness center and aerobics room while renovations on office space and restrooms are nearing completion. In addition the locker rooms will under-go construction as well as new tiling for the floors. |

Bryan Moore has been appointed Director of Media Relations at Eureka College, returning to the department after two years. Moore will oversee all media relations for the College, including the department of athletics. In his new role, Moore will coordinate College-wide communications initiatives and serve as EC's direct contact for local, regional and national media. He previously served Eureka College as sports information director from 2009 until 2014.....MORE |

In last week's SLIAC opener Emmie Haring broker her own single game assist mark for Fontbonne. Haring dished out 14 assists in the game, surpassing her previous record of 12 set last season. Haring has led the SLIAC in assists in each of the last two years while earning All-Conference honors. She is currently averaging 5.9 assists per game this season, once again leading the league and ranking in the top ten nationally. |

The Greenville women's team responded by dropping their SLIAC opener with back to back conference wins. The Panthers topped Westminster and MacMurray to push their record to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the SLIAC. They will host the Greenville Tournament this weekend when they welcome in Robert Morris-Springfield and St. Mary of the Woods. Game times are Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. |

The Iowa Wesleyan men's basketball team welcomed in a pair of brothers to this year's team, Steven and Michael Soukup. The duo, both seniors, has made an immediate impact for the Tigers with Steven averaging a team high 23.6 points per game and Michael averaging 12.0 points and a team best 2.9 assists per game. The Set, Serve and Rally for the Cure fundraising match between the MacMurray College and Illinois College volleyball teams on Oct. 26 at MacMurray resulted in a $2,352 donation to the Mia Ware Foundation in Jacksonville. The annual event, for which the two colleges alternate as host, has raised more than $12,000 for the Foundation during the five years of the event. |

Principia College Director of Athletics Dr. Lee Ellis has announced a change in the structure of the men's and women's soccer programs. Beginning July 2017, Director of Soccer Jess Semnacher will become Head Men's Coach, and Associate Director of Soccer Meagan Fleming will take over as Head Women's Coach. Deputy Director Nicole Gervais will continue assisting both programs in her role as Associate Head Coach, but will primarily focus on the women's program.....MORE |

Spalding University women's soccer senior Dee Sliter was named a Johnson & Johnson Youth Champion of Care. Sliter, one of 11 people honored out of 66,000 entries, was chosen after making 591 thank you cards for the soldiers.....MORE |

The Gorloks women's basketball team set team records for points, margin of victory, forced turnovers, shots, three-point shots, and fewest points allowed in a single game when they defeated Robert Morris University-Springfield 106-24 earlier this week. Webster is now 5-1 on the season, their best start since the 2001-02 season.....MORE |

Romo Tabb helped the Westminster men's basketball team to a 94-69 win in their conference opener last week. Tabb scored 26 points in the win over Fontbonne, picking up the home victory. Tabb finished 11-of-15 from the field while adding six rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots. Westminster is currently 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the SLIAC and return to action this Saturday when they host Webster at 3 p.m. |
