This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is a meeting between the only two remaining unbeaten basketball teams in the SLIAC during conference play, Eureka College and Webster University. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, December 17.....MORE

Spalding Softball and Basketball Put A Wrap On Giving Back (December 13, 2016)
The Spalding University women's basketball and softball teams each participated in gift wrapping events over the weekend. The women's basketball team paired with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckian while the softball team visited the KEASP Family Scholar House.....MORE

Haring Becomes Fontbonne's Career Assist Leader (December 14, 2016)
Fontbonne University senior Emmie Haring was understandably frustrated at the beginning of the Griffins final home game of 2016. The point guard needed seven assists to tie the all-time assist record at Fontbonne, set back in 2001.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

	The Beavers men's basketball team picked up their third win in their last four games when they topped Fontbonne 90-70 last Saturday. The Beavers placed four players in double figures with Chris Davis leading the way with 23 points. Willie Orange added 16 points and 13 rebounds while Jake Maestranzi finished with 17 points and eight assists. Blackburn is currently 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the SLIAC. They return to action Saturday when they host MacMurray at 3 p.m.
	Senior guard Luci Weis moved further up the Red Devils record book during their 82-49 loss to Chicago. Weis knocked down a pair of three-pointers, giving her 122 in her career, and moving her into fourth place on the program's all-time list. She passes Sarah Taylor (1994-98) with Kara Smith (1987-90) next on the list with 135. Emily Camden (2012-16) is the program's all-time leader with 213.
	The Fontbonne women's basketball team set numerous records in Tuesday night's 93-33 win over Robert Morris University-Springfield. The Griffins tied a program record with 38 made field goals while their 33 points allowed, the third fewest in program history. In addition their 60 point margin of victory was the second largest in program history. Fontbonne is now 4-5 overall and will face Greenville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
	The Greenville women's basketball team came up short in an upset bid over #5 ranked Washington-St. Louis, falling 75-60 with the Bears pulling away late. The Panthers trailed by just two points at halftime, 40-38, but the Bears outscored the Panthers 16-7 in the final quarter. Greenville was hurt by committing 15 turnovers and was led by Meredith Crosier, who recorded 16 points and eight rebounds.
	The Iowa Wesleyan women's basketball team had their three game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 66-57 loss to Spalding. The Tigers are now 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the SLIAC. They will close out 2016 with a pair of non-conference games when they host Simpson on Saturday and Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday. They will then have a break until January 4th when they return to conference play against Webster.
	The MacMurray women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season last Saturday when they defeated Robert Morris-Springfield 71-48. The Highlanders overcame a slow start that saw them trailing 11-3 after the opening quarter. The offense heated up in the second-half, scoring 27 points in the third and 29 points in the fourth. Liz Kruemmelbein and Kayla Horlacher led MacMurray with 15 points each while Destyne Powell added 10 points and seven rebounds.
	The Principia College Baseball Team has signed a three year deal with Rawlings Sporting Goods Co., Inc. that will last through the 2019 season. "Welcome to the Rawlings family," Rawlings team sales representative, Dan Bieg said in an email to head coach Chris Marston confirming the good news. Under the new deal, Rawlings is the official game day uniform, bat, batting helmet, and catchers gear provider for the Panthers. The deal provides significant savings and a branded uniform look for the program.....MORE
	The honors continue to roll in for Spalding University senior men's soccer player Joey Lesher, after being named to the 2016 NSCAA Division III Scholar All-America Team, earning Third Team honors. Lesher, a senior, holds a 3.86 grade-point average while majoring in Accounting and Business Administration.
	Brianna Pagan, a junior midfielder on the Gorloks women's soccer team, was named 2016 NSCAA Scholar All-Region. Pagan picked up Second Team All-North/Central Region honors. She carries a 3.86 grade-point average while majoring in mathematics. In addition she was named to her third consecutive All-Central Region team this past fall after tallying five goals and a team best seven assists.
	Westminster men's soccer player Drake Trease earned 2016 NSCAA All-Central Region honors this year, being named to the Second Team. Trease recorded 14 goals and 35 total points this past fall, with four game winning goals, and helped the Blue Jays advance to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament by winning the SLIAC Tournament.
