This week's SLIAC Game of the Week pits a team looking to hold the top spot and right to host the 2018 tournament and another team looking to keep pace for a spot in the tournament. Greenville University, in first place in the conference standings, will host Blackburn College, currently tied for fourth place in the standings, on Wednesday night in Greenville, Ill. at 8 p.m.

Blackburn College 'BEAVERS'

Blackburn is currently 12-9 overall and 8-6 in SLIAC play. The Beavers have won two straight games including a 74-53 win over Principia last Saturday. They are averaging 79.0 points per game and allowing 77.6 points per game. 

The Beavers have a balanced attack with three players averaging in double figures. Duncan King leads the team at 13.3 points per game while adding 3.1 assists per game. Karson Hayes is averaging 12.8 points per game and is shooting a team-best 43-percent from three-point range while Reed Rusten is averaging 11.8 points per game and has knocked down a team-high 46 three-pointers.

        

Greenville University 'PANTHERS'

Greenville comes in with a 13-8 overall record and is in first place in the SLIAC standings with a 10-4 record. The Panthers are coming off a 146-140 win over MacMurray and are 3-2 in their last five games. They are leading all of NCAA Division III in scoring at 127.1 points per game and average 19.2 three's made per game. 

Johari Dix leads the team with 19.3 points and 5.0 assists per game. Barry Nixon is averaging 11.6 points and a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game. Marvin Bateman leads the long-range attack for the Panthers, with 66 three-point field goals this season. 

 

Last Time They Met
Blackburn defeated Greenville 117-108 in the first meeting this year, holding them to their lowest point total in a conference game this season. Blackburn was led by Karson Hayes with 26 points and Malcolm Scott's 14 points and 12 rebounds with a total of seven players reached double figures in scoring. Greenville was paced by Barry Nixon with 21 points.
