SLIAC Players of the Week - January 8

Micah Paulson and Hayley Reneau are the SLIAC Players of the Week for January 8, 2018 after putting their teams on their shoulders last week and picking up key conference wins.

 

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 8

Micah Paulson, Principia College

Paulson, a junior guard, helped the Panthers climb back into the playoff race with two key conference wins last week. While playing every minute of both games Paulson had team-high points in both wins. Against Blackburn, he went for 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting while adding four assists in an 80-66 win. He followed with 34 points in a 94-88 win over Eureka, adding six assists and two steals while going 13-of-14 from the free-throw line. Paulson averaged 29.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game last week as the Panthers moved into a tie for second place in the SLIAC standings.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 8

Hayley Reneau, Eureka College

Hayley Reneau is making it a routine as she picks up her 4th SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award this season. Reneau, a senior from Washington, Ill., led the Red Devils to a conference win over Spalding in their only action last week. Reneau tallied 24 points in the win, her third straight game with more than 20 points. She didn't forget about defense either as she recorded six steals and three blocked shots in the game. Reneau is currently leading the conference in both scoring and steals. 

Other Notables: 

  • Kendahl Adams, Westminster College (Women's Basketball) Adams finished with 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 assists in a win over Fontbonne.
  • Paige Black, Fontbonne (Women's Basketball) Tallied 29 points, with six three-pointers, in a win over MacMurray.
  • Colin Caywood, Westminster College (Men's Basketball) Caywood poured in 29 points, with 9 three-pointers, in a win over Fontbonne.
  • Shea Feehan, Eureka College (Men's Basketball) Scored 31 points in a win over Spalding, moving into 10th place on the Eureka all-time scoring list.
  • Brent Long, MacMurray College (Men's Basketball) Had three double-double outings last week while moving into 3rd place on the school's all-time scoring list and 6th place on the all-time rebounds list.
