SLIAC Players of the Week - February 5

Brock Butler and Alex Martin are the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for February 5, 2018. This marks Butler's second award this season while Martin is taking home her first.

 

SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 5

Brock Butler, Iowa Wesleyan University

This week's SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week is Iowa Wesleyan's Brock Butler. Butler, a senior guard, averaged 36.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game last week while achieving impressive shooting percentages. Butler poured in a career-high 46 points in an overtime game against Blackburn, shooting 14-of-25 from the field while knocking down five three's and going 13-of-14 from the line. He followed with 27 points and 9 rebounds in a win over Webster. On the week he shot 53-percent from the field, 44-percent from three-point range, and 88-percent from the free-throw line.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 5

Alex Martin, Spalding University

Alex Martin kept the Golden Eagles playoff hopes alive by helping Spalding to a pair of conference wins last week and leading them in nearly every statistical category. Martin, a junior guard, averaged 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.5 steals over the two games. Her big outing came in a win over Eureka when she narrowly missed a triple-double. Martin finished the game with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. 

Other Notables: 

  • Grace Archambault, Westminster College (Women's Basketball) Set a school record with seven blocked shots against Fontbonne, adding 10 rebounds and seven points in the contest.
  • Dakota Bennington, Eureka College (Men's Basketball) Scored a career-high 33 points while helping Eureka to a win over Spalding.
  • Kendall Davis, MacMurray College (Men's Basketball) Tallied 43 points against Greenville, the second most in program history for a single game.
  • Kennedy Dura, Eureka College (Women's Basketball) Dura recorded 18 assists over two games last week and continues to lead the conference in assists this season.
  • Kris McCann, Fontbonne University (Men's Basketball) McCann netted a career-high 40 points, going 16-of-20 from the field, in a win over Greenville. 
  • Jaysea Morgan, Webster University (Women's Basketball) Morgan averaged 15 points per game in two wins last week, shooting 69-percent from the field.
  • Kobe Wands, Westminster College (Men's Basketball) Led his team to a win over Fontbonne with 32 points including five three-pointers.
  • Nigel Wilcox, Webster University (Men's Basketball) Wilcox recorded a pair of double-doubles last week, averaging 17.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while adding seven total blocked shots.
