SLIAC Players of the Week - February 19
A pair of players key to their teams' postseason berths earned the final SLIAC Player of the Week awards for the 2017-18 basketball season. Dix, led the Panthers to a SLIAC Men's Basketball regular season title, while Adams carried the Blue Jays to a pair of wins in the final week to clinch a postseason berth into the SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament.
SLIAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 19 Johari Dix, Greenville University Johari Dix led the Panthers to a SLIAC regular season title by winning two games last week, extending the teams current winning streak to five. Dix, a junior guard, averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 assists, and 5.0 steals over the two games while shooting 70-percent from the field. He put up 32 points, on 11-of-12 shooting, in a win over Spalding; adding seven assists and five steals. Dix followed with 14 points, in just 20 minutes, in a win over Webster; adding nine assists and five steals. |

SLIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 19 Kendahl Adams, Westminster College Kendahl Adams, a junior guard, came up big win needed by leading Westminster to two must have wins in the final week as the Blue Jays secured a postseason spot. Adams averaged 27.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the two wins while shooting 44-percent from the field and 96-percent from the free-throw line. She tallied 21 points and nine rebounds in a win over MacMurray. She then guided her team to a win in their regular season finale over Blackburn with 33 points and 11 rebounds. Adams also committed just one turnover on the week while playing 58 total minutes. This marks her fourth Player of the Week award this season. |
