SLIAC/DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 30

Ryan Clavin, Westminster College

Clavin, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., was instrumental in helping the Blue Jays to a three-game sweep of Fontbonne University; clinching a spot in the conference tournament in the process. Clavin, a utility player, hit .583 in the three-game series, going 7-for-12 at the plate. He had multiple hits in all three games including a 3-for-5 performance in game two of a doubleheader. Clavin crossed the plate five times in the weekend series and added one home run and four runs batted in. He finished the week with a .615 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Jimi Keating, Spalding University

Keating, a senior from Bardstown, Ky., wins his 4th SLIAC/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week award this season after a dominating return to the mound last week. After missing two weeks with an injury Keating returned to throw six scoreless innings in a win over Blackburn College. He allowed just three hits while striking out 10 and walking none. Keating retired nine of the final ten batters he faced in the game and allowed just one hit over the final 4 2/3 innings pitched. He also recorded his 311th career strikeout, setting a new Spalding program record.

SLIAC SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 30

Amber Tepen, Westminster College

Tepen, a senior outfielder, was a key fixture in the Blue Jays lineup last week. Tepen hit .357 on the week with two home runs and 10 runs batted in but more impressive was the timing of her hits. Tepen played a direct role in four of her team's six wins last week with two game-winning runs batted in and crossing the plate twice for the game-winning runs. Tepen had hits in seven of the eight games on the week and had three games with three RBI. 

SLIAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 30

Katie Price, Westminster College

Price took the ball often for the Blue Jays last week, making six appearances as her team chased down their second straight regular season conference title. Price, a sophomore, finished the week with a 4-1 record while throwing three complete games out of her four starts. Her top outing was a complete game, one-hitter against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week she threw 30.2 innings and held a 1.60 earned-run average while striking out 22 and allowing 22 hits and only eight walks.

• Olivia Carter, Spalding University (Softball) Hit .538, going 7-for-13, over four games for the Golden Eagles.
• Ian Cassidy, Westminster College (Baseball) Had a complete game win over Fontbonne, striking out six, and allowing just one run on four hits.
• Parker Davidson, Principia College (Baseball) Hit .500 in a three-game series sweep of MacMurray.
• Terri Dearth, Webster University (Softball) Hit .500 with three home runs and six RBI while the Gorloks picked up four wins to stay alive in the conference tournament race.
• Michael Golich, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Golich had four multi-hit games for the Griffins last week, pushing his batting average up to .424 on the season.
• Kyler Kent, Webster University (Baseball) Went 5-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in the second game of a doubleheader against Iowa Wesleyan.
• Eric Meyer, Spalding University (Baseball) Hit .438 in five games last week, adding seven RBI and four stolen bases with six runs scored.
• Matt Mulhearn, Webster University (Baseball) Went seven scoreless innings in a win over Iowa Wesleyan, striking out 12. 
• Bryce Pearce, Greenville University (Baseball) Worked seven innings of one-run ball, striking out five against MacMurray.
• Alex Stamos, Principia College (Baseball) Needed just 68 pitches to throw a complete game win over MacMurray, allowing just one run on four hits.
• Luke Summers, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Summers set the school record for strikeouts ina  season, notching his 76th this spring after tallying nine strikeouts against Westminster.
• Chelsea Thornley, Webster University (Softball) Went 2-0 with a 1.50 earned-run average for the Gorloks. 
• Jordyn Wieland, Greenville University (Softball) Hit .600 with four runs scored and six stolen bases for the Panthers in helping them to four wins.
