SLIAC Players of the Week - October 23

A three-time winner this season and five first-timers lead this week's SLIAC Player of the Week group.

 

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 23

Kaleb Keller, Principia College

Keller, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., helped the Panthers stay near the top of the standings last week but also set a new program record for goals in a season. Keller scored all four of his team's goals in a 4-0 win over MacMurray. He then netted the only goal against Webster in a 1-1 tie, giving him 17 goals on the season. Principia is looking to make the conference tournament for the first time in six years.

   

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 23

Nick Lucas, Spalding University

Lucas, a freshman from Atlanta, Ga., allowed just two goals in 180-minutes of action last week. He started the week by stopping one of three shots on goal against Blackburn. Lucas then tallied nine saves in a 2-1 win over Greenville that kept the team's tournament hopes alive. He finished with a .769 save percentage on the week, stopping 10 of 13 shots.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 23

Melissa Kasper, Webster University

Kasper, a sophomore from Chicago, Ill., scored in each of her team's two games last week. She finished with a goal and an assist in a win over Eureka, scoring on her only shot of the game. She followed with two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist against Principia. On the season Kasper has eight goals and 10 assists. 

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 23

Lily Brauer, Webster University

Brauer, a sophomore defender, anchored the Gorlok defense that extended their scoreless streak to 270 minutes. Brauer and the Gorloks picked up two more shutouts last week, over Eureka and Principia, while allowing just three shots on goal in the two games. Brauer also added a goal in her game against Eureka.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 23

Anna Finch, Greenville University

Finch, a freshman, led Greenville to a pair of conference wins last week. Finch totaled 24 kills in the two matches, averaging 2.47 per set while hitting .468 with just two attack errors. Finch also added one service ace and finished with 28 total points in just nine sets.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 23

Devon Marunde, Principia College

Marunde, a sophomore from McHenry, Ill., led the Panthers to a pair of wins last week, averaging 4.64 digs per set. She had a high of 24 digs in a five-set battle against Greenville, adding one block assist. Marunde then picked up 14 digs against Iowa Wesleyan and 13 against Harris-Stowe. 

Other Notables: 

  • Daniel Barone, Westminster College (Men's Soccer) Barone recorded three goals and one assist in a 6-1 win over Iowa Wesleyan.
  • Kristina Eason, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Eason recorded 26 kills in two matches last week for the Griffins.
  • Tymber Gabbert, Greenville University (Women's Soccer) Gabbert tallied a goal from her backline position and helped the Panthers to a pair of shutouts last week.
  • Ashley Kistaitis, Westminster College (Volleyball) Finished with 11 kills and 14 digs while hitting .500 in a sweep of MacMurray.
  • Linsey Klein, Fontbonne University (Women's Soccer) Picked up two goals and an assist in a win over MacMurray.
  • Christin Miller, Blackburn College (Women's Soccer) Recorded three goals and an assist in her team's win over Eureka.
  • Natalie Schulte, Westminster College (Women's Soccer) Recorded three goals and one assist in two conference wins last week.
  • Nick Wolf, Fontbonne University (Men's Soccer) Wolf tallied two goals, including the game-winner, in his team's 3-2 victory over Westminster that helped clinch a postseason spot for the Griffins.
