SLIAC Players of the Week - October 30

In our final SLIAC Players of the Week for the fall sports season, we had four previous winners and two earn first-time honors.

 

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 30

Maxwell Trautmann, Iowa Wesleyan University

Trautmann, a senior, helped the Tigers close out their season with a pair of conference wins last week. He opened the week with two goals in a 4-2 victory against Eureka, including the game-winner. Trautmann followed by setting up the only goal in a 1-0 win over MacMurray. 

   

SLIAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 30

Jordan Alberici, Fontbonne University

Alberici, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., grabs his second weekly award this fall. He was in net for the Griffins 1-0 win over Principia, that clinched the Griffins a SLIAC regular season title and the top seed in the tournament. Alberici made five saves in the contest and improves his record to 9-0 on the year.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 30

Paige Townsend, Westminster College

Townsend, a senior from Nixa, Mo., picks up her second award this season. Last week Townsend recorded five goals and an assist in her team's two games, both wins. She started the week with four goals against Principia. She tallied her hat trick in just 12-minutes of action while her four goals are tied for most in program history. She followed with a goal and an assist against Eureka. She now has 19 goals on the season, tops in the SLIAC.

   

SLIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 30

Elena Bloma, Webster University

Bloma is a two-time Defensive Player of the Week winner this fall after helping the Gorloks defense record two more shutout wins last week. Bloma and the Gorloks extended their current scoreless streak to 450 minutes with wins over Greenville and Spalding. She also added an assist in the win over Greenville. 

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 30

Ashley Kistaitis, Westminster College

Kistaitis, a sophomore, picks up her first career SLIAC Player of the Week award after helping the Blue Jays notch three wins last week. Kistaitis hit .271 in the three matches, totaling 37 kills. She had a high of 17 kills against Iowa Wesleyan, adding 15 digs. On the week she averaged 4.1 kills per set and finished with 41 total points.

   

SLIAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - OCT. 30

Devon Marunde, Principia College

For the second straight week, Devon Marunde is the SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Marunde, a sophomore from McHenry, Ill., totaled 64 digs in three matches last week; averaging 5.82 per set. Her best performance was a 29 dig outing against Spalding in which she added three block assists.

Other Notables: 

  • Matt Amick, Webster University (Men's Soccer) Amick made seven saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Greenville, lowering his G.A.A. to 0.67 this season.
  • Kate Arthur, Greenville University (Women's Soccer) Recorded four goals in her team's win over Blackburn. 
  • Mary Beers, Fontbonne University (Women's Soccer) Beers made six saves in a shutout win over Principia that helped the Griffins secure the second seed in the upcoming SLIAC Tournament.
  • Maria Cline, Blackburn College (Women's Soccer) Cline made 16 saves in two games last including a 10 save outing against Greenville; her 13th double-digit save game this year.
  • Kristina Eason, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Moved past the 700 dig mark for her career and had three double-digit kill matches.
  • Justin Gerdiman, Westminster College (Men's Soccer) Tallied two goals and an assist in a must-win game for the Blue Jays, a 4-1 victory over Eureka.
  • Sophia Hathaway, Principia College (Volleyball) Averaged 3.82 kills and 4.27 digs per set last week while helping her team pick up two conference victories.
  • Melissa Kasper, Webster University (Women's Soccer) Notched the only goal in a 1-0 win over Spalding, helping the Gorloks complete a perfect conference record this fall.
  • Allyson Mitchell, Greenville University (Volleyball) Recorded five double-double matches including highs of 20 kills and 21 digs.
  • Alexis Moore, MacMurray College (Volleyball) Set a new program record for digs in a season, with 626 on the year.
  • Meredith Wendt, Fontbonne University (Women's Soccer) Wendt picked up both game-winning goals for Fontbonne last week, finishing the week with three goals and setting a new career high with 16 goals this season.
