NFCA Honors Scholar-Athletes (Oct. 18, 2017)
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the full list of recipients for their 2017 Easton Division III Scholar-Athletes and a total of 67 student-athletes from around the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference earned honors. A total of seven teams from the SLIAC had representatives on the list with four schools placing double-digits on the list.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

The Blackburn College men's golf team wrapped up their fall season with a first-place finish at the Blackburn Fall Invite. The Beavers took first in a field of five teams, including three other conference members. Trenton Easley led Blackburn with a 74, finishing 2nd overall. Anthony Harper took 5th place with a 77as the Beavers finished with a team score of 312.

Eureka College

The Eureka volleyball team suffered a tough 3-0 loss to Monmouth despite the match featuring 31 tied scores and 13 lead changes. The Red Devils fell 28-26, 25-22, and 27-25 in the non-conference match. Anna Crank led Eureka with 10 kills and 11 digs while Sara Worrell finished with 19 assists. Eureka returns to SLIAC play tonight with a home match against Fontbonne. Prior to the match, Eureka will honor their three seniors: Anna Crank, Beth Mickna, and Meagan Hanney. 

Fontbonne University

The Fontbonne men's soccer puts their current three-game winning streak on the line this week with a pair of road conference games. The Griffins will face Westminster on Wednesday and MacMurray on Saturday. Fontbonne is currently 9-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the SLIAC, sitting in 3rd place in the conference standings.

Greenville University

Greenville University head coach Tom Ackerman recorded his 300th coaching win this week. Ackerman has been the head coach of the Panthers since 2002 and led the team to seven consecutive SLIAC regular season championships. They are also back-to-back defending SLIAC Tournament champions. Greenville is currently 18-4 overall and 13-3 in the SLIAC. 

Iowa Wesleyan University

The Tigers volleyball team picked up two wins over the last week, defeating MacMurray 3-1 last Wednesday and Robert Morris-Springfield 3-0 on Saturday in a non-conference match. Iowa Wesleyan is in the midst of a six-match road trip which continues this week with matches against Principia on Friday and Spalding and Florida College on Saturday. 

MacMurray College

The newly formed MacMurray cross country program had their best performance of the season with two runners placing in the top ten at the Illinois College Invitational. Diamond Norwood finished 7th with a time of 28:30 in the women's race while Zach Vespa took 9th with a time of 32:00 in the men's race. 

Principia College

Principia College held Homecoming Weekend last weekend with numerous athletic events taking place. Principia hosted the Cowbell Classic, a preview of the upcoming Division III Cross Country Nationals race. Volleyball also hosted a quad during which the Panthers secured a spot in the upcoming conference tournament. And both the men's and women's soccer teams played host to Iowa Wesleyan while the baseball team held an alumni game.

Spalding University

Spalding's Garrett Nielsen concluded his fall season on the golf course with a 1st place finish at the IU Kokomo Invite last weekend. Nielsen shot a two-round score of 149, besting a field of 33 golfers. He shot a 73 in the opening round and a 76 in the second round to finish five over par for the event. Nielsen had three top-five finishes in his three outings this fall.

Webster University

Webster University held their annual 'Dig Pink' night on Tuesday as they hosted #20 ranked Washington University-St. Louis. Webster held a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and heads-up/tails dollar game with all proceeds going to the Side-Out Foundation. You can still donate by going to the following LINK

Westminster College

The Westminster College soccer teams are both 3-2 in conference play this season and will face Fontbonne and Iowa Wesleyan in conference games this week. Both teams are currently in 6th place in the standings with the top four teams in the conference making the SLIAC Tournament.
