SLIAC Game of the Week: Fontbonne at Webster (Dec. 5, 2017)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is The Battle Of Big Bend when Fontbonne University and Webster University meet on the court in a women's basketball contest. Cross-town rivals Fontbonne and Webster are two of the original charter members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and have met 58 times on the basketball court.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

	Blackburn College Maria Cline scored a career-high 26 points last weekend, as Blackburn fell to rival MacMurray 76-62 in a women's basketball conference game in Carlinville. Cline also added seven rebounds in the game, finishing the day 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. Cline is currently averaging 8.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season for the Beavers.
	Eureka College Eureka College will host a Strength and Conditioning Kids Day on Thursday, December 21 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Boys and girls in grades one through eight are invited to participate. The camp will include instruction and a variety of exercises and games led by Eureka College Strength and Conditioning Coach Matt Friend and his staff. Cost is $55 and includes lunch and a t-shirt. 	Fontbonne University The Fontbonne men's basketball team used career games from Kris McCann and Luke DeLine to notch their second win of the season as the Griffins topped St. Louis College of Pharmacy 97-86. McCann finished the game with 27 points, on 8-of-15 shooting, while DeLine added 22 points and five rebounds. The Griffins return to conference play this Saturday with a game at Webster.
	Greenville University The defending SLIAC regular season champions found their first conference win of the season by defeating the defending SLIAC tournament champions Westminster 118-112 last Saturday. The Panthers held a 10 point lead at halftime and pushed their lead to as large as 25 points in the second-half. Rakim Murphy led Greenville with 19 points while Johari Dix finished with 15 points.
	Iowa Wesleyan University Tiger women's basketball player Darby Massner was named the Iowa Wesleyan University Student-Athlete of the Month for November by the Iowa Wesleyan Athletic Department. Massner averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game during the month, recording two double-doubles and picking up on SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.
	MacMurray College The MacMurray women's basketball team edged rival Blackburn 76-62 last week to move to 1-1 in conference play. The Highlanders picked up 19 points from Liz Kruemmelbein and 15 points from Maddie Dalton as the team shot 45-percent from the floor. MacMurray also reached the free-throw line 25 times, hitting 20 and forced 20 turnovers in the win.
	Principia College Principia recorded their first win of the season last week, topping Iowa Wesleyan 85-78 on the road. The Panthers received a game-high 28 points from guard TreVaughn Goodman with Micah Paulson adding 13 points and 12 rebounds. Principia is back in action this weekend with a home contest against MacMurray.
	Spalding University After opening up the season by going 1-3 the Golden Eagles men's basketball team has won two straight to push their record to 3-4 overall. Spalding recorded back to back wins over conference opponents, Fontbonne and Iowa Wesleyan. Spalding will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday when they host Westminster.
	Webster University The Webster women's basketball team snapped a short two-game losing streak by defeating Finlandia on Tuesday night 97-68. The Gorloks opened the game up with 30 points in the second quarter and 32 in the third quarter. Megan Brandt and Kelsey Miller led the team with 15 points each while Jade Sawyer added 14 points. Webster returns to conference play this weekend against Fontbonne.
	Westminster College The Westminster women's basketball team finished off a thrilling 77-72 overtime win over Webster last week to pick up their first conference win of the season. In the game, Mirrakohl Johnson dominated with 33 points and 22 rebounds while Kendahl Adams added 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Blue Jays are back in action this Saturday with a road contest against Spalding.
