Iowa Wesleyan Hosting Special Olympics Spring Games (March 29, 2019)
The Iowa Wesleyan athletic department and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, in conjunction with Special Olympics Iowa are excited to once again host the Southeast Iowa Special Olympic Spring Games. The annual event will take place on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex, located in Mount Pleasant.....MORE

Former Gorlok to Start Season in AA (April 2, 2019)
Thanks to an impressive season at the Class A level last summer, former Webster University All-American pitcher Josh Fleming will open the 2019 baseball season with the Class AA Montgomery Biscuits of the Southern League.....MORE


AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

Anthony Harper was named the SLIAC Golf Player of the Week on April 3 after helping the Beavers to a 4th place finish in the Blackburn Spring Invitational. Harper shot a two-round score of 153, including a tournament low of 72 in the second round, to finish 2nd overall.

Eureka College

The Red Devils exploded in a big way earlier this week, winning 24-5 and 25-7. Eureka hit four home runs in the two games including a pair of grand slams in the third and final game of the series. After being shutout 1-0 in the series opener, Eureka exploded for the 49 combined runs; maring the most in program history for a three-game series since joining the SLIAC.

Fontbonne University

The Griffins men's tennis team jumped out to a fast start over rivals Webster, holding a 2-1 lead after doubles action. Anh Nguyen and Jaxon Ziemann won at #2 doubles and Brandon Baumgartner and Hayden Thompson won at #3 doubles but Fontbonne was unable to pick up any wins in singles, falling 7-2. 

Greenville University

The Greenville softball team swept the SLIAC Game of the Week last week, a doubleheader against Westminster. Greenville took game one 9-5, tallying runs in the final three innings for a come from behind win. Greenville followed with an 8-5 win in game two, exploding for five runs in the top of the seventh inning. 

Iowa Wesleyan University

Chazz Brown set a new program record with his 52nd career stolen base earlier this week. Brown surpasses the previous mark of 49, held by Devin Smith. 

MacMurray College

MacMurray is celebrating D3 week all week long. Be sure to head over to www.mchighlanders.com to see all of their 'Highlandographies' which highlight student-athletes all around campus. 

Principia College

Principia baseball found the win column with a 9-1 victory over Blackburn. Alex Stamos worked 6 1/3 scoreless innings for Principia to pick up the win. He held Blackburn to just two hits and struck out 9. Aleq McMullin registered the save. Six different Panthers finished with two hits for Principia.

Spalding University

Kelsey Phillips picked up her second straight SLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week award. Phillips, a junior, competed in the Bellarmine Invitational. She finished her 5K race in a time of 18:43, finishing 13th overall.

Webster University

The Gorlok men's tennis team won their 10th straight match after a 7-2 win over Fontbonne. The Gorloks are now 10-2 overall this season after sweeping all six singles matches. 

Westminster College

A pair of Blue Jays took weekly honors this week. Ian Cassidy was named the SLIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week while Madison Washington was named the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week.
