This week's SLIAC Feature Friday is with McKenna Cleer, a volleyball player at Eureka College. Cleer, a senior, talks about how her training with the Red Devils football team helped her progress on the court to earn a starting position on the volleyball team. SLIAC Game of the Week: Blackburn vs. Eureka (Sept. 11, 2018)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week will take place on the volleyball court when Blackburn College hosts Eureka College as part of a conference quad on Saturday. Both teams have already notched a conference win this season and will be continuing their early season pursuit of a playoff spot.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

Brittney Zipprich has been named the Beavers new women's cross country head coach. Zipprich is a 2018 graduate of Webster University, where she was a four-year member of the basketball team. She will also serve as an assistant coach on the Blackburn women's basketball team. 

Eureka College

After stepping out of conference against Knox on Tuesday night the Red Devils volleyball team returns to SLIAC play with three conference matches this week. They will travel to Iowa Wesleyan on Thursday night before arriving in Carlinville on Saturday for matches against Blackburn and MacMurray.

Fontbonne University

The Fontbonne women's golf team took 7th place at the Rhodes Classic last weekend. The Griffins shot a 357 in their only round of competition as round two was rained out. Hannah Householder led Fontbonne with an 86, placing 31st.

Greenville University

The Greenville women's soccer team won their fourth straight game with a 2-1 victory over Rose-Hulman on Tuesday night. Panther keeper Marjory Coates made 16 saves as Greenville was outshot 28-8 in the game. Greenville is now 5-1 overall this season.

Iowa Wesleyan University

Jaime Suarez started his collegiate career with the Tigers with a first-place finish in the Iowa City Shootout. Suarez placed first in the field with a two-round score of 144, including a tournament-best 69 in round two. Suarez ended up winning the event by six strokes as the Tigers took 1st in the tournament as a team.

MacMurray College

The MacMurray men's soccer team will play their first home games of the season this week. After playing their first five games on the road the Highlanders will host Illinois College and Illinois Tech. MacMurray is 1-4 overall and coming off a tough 3-2 overtime loss to Ripon on Sunday.

Principia College

A pair of Panthers picked up weekly conference honors this week with Abe Ott being named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week and Mia Gill earning Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Spalding University

Spalding freshman Abnel St. Fleur had an exciting week. He netted two goals against Aurora including the game-winner with just six seconds left in regulation. In his next game, he tied the game up with 1.5 seconds left in regulation. For his efforts, he was named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Webster University

The Webster women's soccer team currently sits at 4-0 on the season, having outscored their opponents 12-3 this year. The Gorloks host Monmouth on Wednesday night, Cornell on Saturday, and Coe on Sunday in a busy week.

Westminster College

The Westminster men's soccer team recorded the first win for a Blue Jays team on the newly installed turf field. The Blue Jays topped Illinois College 4-0 with four different players netting goals to help the team pick up their first win of the 2018 season.
