SLIAC Game of the Week: Brissman-Lundeen Invitational (Sept. 18, 2018)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College. Five of nine SLIAC cross country programs will be headed to Rock Island, Illinois to compete in the weekend event.....MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC

Blackburn College

The Beavers volleyball team won the SLIAC Game of the Week last week, defeating Eureka 3-2 including 15-13 in the decisive fifth set. The Beavers used 13 aces to get by the Red Devils with Alanni Young (15 kills) and Kendall Knop (13 kills) leading the way offensively. 

Eureka College

The Red Devils men's soccer team started the year 3-1 but have dropped two straight. They will look to complete their early season non-conference schedule on a high note with a game against Emmaus on Wednesday. The Red Devils will then open up conference action with a game against Fontbonne on Saturday.

Fontbonne University

Fontbonne's Will Pruden led the Griffins to a first-place showing at the Eureka Invite, playing on the course where the spring championship will be held. Pruden finished first overall with a two-under 70 as the Griffins took first with a team score of 305.

Greenville University

The Panthers have won five of their last six matches to improve to 6-5 overall this season. They will host Blackburn on Wednesday night before heading to Chicago for a two-day tournament in which they will face Defiance, Benedictine (Ill.), Central (Iowa), and North Park.

Iowa Wesleyan University

The Tigers men's soccer team has three more non-conference games before opening SLIAC play. The Tigers will host Olivet this Saturday, followed by road contests against Monmouth (Ill.) and Loras next week.

MacMurray College

The Highlanders volleyball team swept Knox on Tuesday night for their fourth win of the season. MacMurray won 25-23, 25-20, 25-12 while recording nine service aces in the match. Kamryn Flesner (13 kills) and Mariah Markert (12 kills) led the way.

Principia College

The Principia men's tennis team got some time on the court this week with a match against Missouri Baptist, winning 7-2. The Panthers took two of three doubles matches while Daniel Gomez, Wyatt Dale, Jules Kitchingman, Nat Kenworthy, and Peter Griswold all picked up singles wins.

Spalding University

The Golden Eagles converted an overtime penalty kick to get past Hanover 1-0 on Tuesday night. Kornell Hilliard, fresh off his SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week award, tallied the game's only goal; his sixth in the last three games. Spalding improves to 7-1 overall.

Webster University

Senior Torie Grassi led the Gorloks with 17 kills in a 3-1 win over Eureka. The win stopped the Gorloks three-match losing streak and evens their conference record at 2-2. Webster will head down the road to face #10 ranked WashU on Thursday night. 

Westminster College

The Westminster volleyball team got past Iowa Wesleyan 3-1 to remain undefeated in conference action this season with a 5-0 record. The Blue Jays were led by Allie Kennebeck with 21 kills while Madisyn Matthews finished with 27 assists and Bridget Ringwald added 26 digs.
