SLIAC Game of the Week: Spalding at Principia (Oct. 16, 2018)
This week's SLIAC Game of the Week is with an eye towards the postseason as Spalding University and Principia College meet in a women's soccer contest. Spalding starts the week with a 6-5-1 overall record and a 3-2 SLIAC record while Principia is 2-9 overall and 2-3 in the SLIAC. The two teams will meet on Saturday, October 20 in Elsah, Illinois at 12 p.m.....MORE
SLIAC Schools Recognized By United Soccer Coaches (Oct. 17, 2018)
Five programs from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as 2017-18 Team Academic award winners. MacMurray College was the lone conference member to have both their men's and women's programs receive the award while the men's teams from Fontbonne University and Greenville University and the women's teams from Principia College and Webster University were also honored......MORE

AROUND THE SLIAC
Blackburn College The Blackburn women's soccer team picked up their first conference win of the season yesterday, topping Iowa Wesleyan 2-1 on the road. The Beavers scored early when Adriana Darow found the back of the net at the 14-minute mark. After the game was tied up just 20-minutes later, Darow struck again; responding with the game-winning goal just 48-seconds after the Tigers had tied it up. Slavin Mackay made six saves in picking up the win in net for Blackburn. |

Eureka College The Eureka volleyball squad stopped a seven-match losing streak with back to back wins last Saturday. The Red Devils topped Spalding and Lincoln Christian in a pair of home matches. Eureka will play their final road contest of the season this Saturday when they face Principia. |

Fontbonne University Fontbonne rallied for a 3-2 win over Westminster on Tuesday night with junior Megan Schaller reaching a milestone in the win. After dropping the first two sets the Griffins rallied to win 25-22, 25-21, and 16-14. During the match, Schaller became the 7th player in Griffin program history to reach 1,000 career assists. |

Greenville University The Panther volleyball team will hit the road for their final regular season road contests this season. Greenville faces Spalding on Wednesday and then heads to Fulton on Saturday for matches against Westminster and Iowa Wesleyan. They will conclude their road trip with a match at Eureka next Wednesday. |

Iowa Wesleyan University The men's soccer team picked up a key win on Tuesday, defeating Blackburn 4-1 at home. The Tigers have now won three of their last four games and are 3-2 in conference play. Sitting in a tie for 5th place in the standings, the Tigers will face two of the top three teams in their next two games; Fontbonne and Webster. |

MacMurray College The Highlanders volleyball team is currently 5-8 in conference play and will be looking to finish the season out strong as they chase a playoff spot. The Highlanders are 3.5 games out right now with five games remaining. |

Principia College The Principia volleyball team became the first program to capture a post-season birth with their win over Spalding last Friday. This will be the 20th time the Panthers program has made the conference tournament and the second consecutive year. |

Spalding University The Spalding women's soccer team has a pair of road contests this week when they face Webster on Thursday and Principia on Saturday. The Golden Eagles are 3-2 in the SLIAC, tied for fourth place in the standings. |

Webster University The Gorloks rolled to another sweep on the volleyball court, winning their 10th straight match; tying the school record. During their win on Tuesday night, Kristen Farrah became the 14th player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs. |

Westminster College Heidi Gundy picked up SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors this week after helping the Blue Jays to a pair of wins last week. Gundy tallied four goals in two games, including netting her first career hat trick. The Blue Jays are 4-1 in conference play and face Fontbonne and Greenville on the road this week. |
