SLIAC Programs Honored By NSCAA For Academic Success

A total of six programs from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) have been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2015-16 season. Greenville College, MacMurray College, Principia College, Webster University, and Westminster College were all recognized by the NSCAA for the academic achievement.

Greenville College was the lone SLIAC school, and one of just 221 schools in the country across all divisions, to be presented the NSCAA Team Academic Award to both their men's and women's soccer programs. The Greenville men's team, coached by Chris Swift, held a team G.P.A. of 3.29 while the Greenville women's team, coached by Jeff Wardlaw, finished with a team G.P.A. of 3.39.

The remaining programs from the SLIAC honored all came from women's soccer as well. MacMurray, coached by Andrew Lenhardt, finished with a G.P.A. of 3.23; Principia, coached by Jess Semnacher, finished with a 3.45; Webster, coached by Luigi Scire, finished with a 3.45; and Westminster, coached by Jen Dyson, finished with a team score of 3.56.

A total of 892 soccer teams, 314 women's teams and 578 men's teams, througout all levels earned NSCAA Team Academic Award honors. To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.
