Kaiser Named SLIAC Commissioner

Dick Kaiser has been named as the next Commissioner of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). Kaiser brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked in collegiate athletics for over 40 years including 19 years as an Athletic Director.

"We are thrilled and extremely fortunate to have someone with the experience and vision of Dick Kaiser," said Chair of the SLIAC President's Council Jamel Wright. "He will be a great strategic partner, working across the conference to facilitate our desired growth."

From serving as a coach, facility manager, professor, and athletic director; Kaiser has worked numerous duties within athletics; giving him wide-range of perspectives at every collegiate level. Most recently he served as the Men's and Women's Golf Coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He previously spent five years as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, holding the same position at Defiance College, Olivet College, Western Oregon University, and Willamette University. As an athletic director Kaiser led two schools in their transition from NAIA to NCAA levels; Willamette to Division III and South Dakota School of Mines to Division II.

"I believe the purpose of an athletic administrator is to make the experience of playing, watching, and coaching as positively memorable as possible," said Kaiser.

Among his duties he has been responsible for conference scheduling, serving as a compliance officer, NCAA grant writing, serving on several strategic planning committees, and developing corporate sponsorships. In addition, Kaiser served on the NCAA Division III National Championship football and men's golf committees.

Kaiser is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, earning his Master's from South Dakota State University in Academic Leadership and his doctorate in Athletic Administration from Brigham Young University. He becomes the third full-time commissioner in conference history; following Will Wolper (2007-14) and Angie Morenz (2014-18) and will begin official duties on July 1, 2018.
