Smego Joins MacMurray As Sports Information Director
MacMurray College has announced the hiring of Marissa Smego as their Sports Information Director. Smego, a graduate of Heidelberg University, recently completed two years as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant at her alma mater and will begin her duties with MacMurray College this week.
As a graduate assistant Smego was responsible for promoting the growth of the Heidelberg University brand through the use of graphics and social media. In addition, she wrote numerous game recaps, press releases, and other content for the athletic website while maintaining communication with the athletic staff and the sports information department. She also spent three years in the sports information office as a student worker where she was responsible for statistical inputting. Smego has also served as a promotions intern with the Akron Racers, a professional pro fastpitch team.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Smego was a standout four-year softball player at Heidelberg University; finishing as the program's career leader in hits and single-season leader in hits and doubles while leading her team to an Ohio Athletic Conference and Regional Championship in 2015.
