SLIAC Player of the Week - September 10

This week's SLIAC Players of the Week winners are Matt Amick, Marjory Coates, Abby Freeman, Mia Gill, Jessie Kuykendall, Abe Ott, Abnel St. Fleur, and Payton Williams.

   

SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week - Sept. 10
Abe Ott, Principia College

Ott, a junior from Durango, Colo., is the SLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after competing in the Les Duke Invitational. The field consisted of 181 runners with Ott finishing with a time of 28:04 during the 8K race. Ott sat in 75th place at the 2K split mark before weaving his way up to a 33rd place finish.  

   

SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week - Sept. 10
Jessie Kuykendall, Westminster College

Kuykendall, a senior competed in her first race this fall and picked up a 2nd place finish at the UIS Prairie Star Invitational. Kuykendall completed the 4K course in a time of 15:50, a mile pace of 3:58 for the race. 

   

SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Abnel St. Fleur, Spalding University

St. Fleur rose to the occasion in helping the Golden Eagles pick up two more wins last week. St. Fleur tallied the game-tying goal with 1.5 seconds left in Spalding's 2-1 double-overtime win over Franklin. He followed three days later with two goals, including the game-winner, in his team's 3-2 win over Aurora. He netted the game-winner with just six seconds left in regulation. On the week St. Fleur recorded three goals on seven shots on goal, finishing with six points.

   

SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Matt Amick, Webster University

Matt Amick continues his impressive start to the season as he extended his shutout streak to four games. Amick recorded two more clean slates last week in wins over Harris-Stowe and Illinois College. He made nine saves total in the two games including a high of six against Harris-Stowe.

   

SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Payton Williams, Webster University

Williams, a junior midfielder from St. Louis, Mo., helped the Gorloks to three wins last week notching three goals. Williams netted the game-winning goal against Dominican. She followed with two more goals in a 4-1 win over Millikin. On the season she leads the team with three goals and is tied for the lead with six points.

   

SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Marjory Coates, Greenville University

Coates, a junior from Decatur, Ill., recorded three wins including two shutouts in net for the Panthers. Coates picked up a stellar 15 save shutout win over Concordia-Chicago to highlight her week. She followed with six saves against Belhaven and two more in a shutout win over Millsaps. On the week Coates had a .958 save percentage, allowing one goal in 270 minutes of action.

   

SLIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Abby Freeman, Greenville University

Abby Freeman is the SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.3 points per set while helping Greenville to a pair of wins last week. Freeman, a sophomore, put down a high of 18 kills against Webster and reached double-digit kills in all three matches on the week. She added eight service aces including five against Eureka as well as eight total blocks. On the week she totaled 45 kills, averaging 4.1 per set. 

   

SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week - Sept. 10
Mia Gill, Principia College

Gill, a senior libero from Elgin, Ill., picks up her first SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award for the season. Gill totaled 96 digs in three matches last week, all wins. She had a high of 39 digs against Fontbonne and added 32 digs against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week Gill averaged 6.9 digs per set and added three aces.

  • Connor Bandre', Westminster College (Soccer) Recorded 10 saves in a losing effort against Knox.
  • Will Brittian, Spalding University (Cross Country) Finished 15th overall at the Berea Jamboree with a time of 16:52. 
  • Lexi Dooley, Eureka College (Volleyball) Pounded out 4.4 kills per set, reaching double figures in kills in back to back matches against Westminster and Spalding.
  • Kristen Farrah, Webster University (Volleyball) Totaled 82 digs in three matches for the Gorloks, averaging 8.2 per set.
  • Sierra Howardson, Iowa Wesleyan University (Cross Country) Competing in her first ever 6K race, took 8th place with a time of 24:21.
  • Molly Kovarik, Fontbonne University (Soccer) Broke out for four goals in an 8-0 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. 
  • Ruben Martinez, Greenville University (Soccer) Led the Panther defense in two shutout wins last week, holding opponents to just six combined shots on goal.
  • Molly McDonnell, Greenville University (Soccer) Came off the bench to score three goals on the week.
  • Jared McPeek, Greenville University (Soccer) Scored the game-winner in overtime against Rose Hulman and added an assist on the game-winning goal against Millsaps.
  • Natalie Needy, Westminster College (Volleyball) Averaged 3.2 kills and 0.9 blocks per set last week including a high of 16 kills against Webster.
  • Kelsey Phillips, Spalding University (Cross Country) Placed 10th with a time of 12:46 in a two-mile meet. 
  • Maura Rabun, Fontbonne University (Volleyball) Had a season-high 15 kills against Principia, hitting .375 on the week.
  • Bridget Ringwald, Westminster College (Volleyball) Averaged 7.0 digs per set in three wins last week.
  • Hayden Warner, Principia College (Volleyball) Paced the Panthers offense with 42 kills in three conference victories last week, adding 2.6 digs per set.
