SLIAC Players of the Week - March 25

   

SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week 
Branden Beeler, Westminster College

Beeler, a junior catcher for Westminster, is the Baseball Hitter of the Week. He hit .556 over four games for the Blue Jays, going 10-for-18 at the plate. He finished with 3 multi-hit games and drove in at least one run in all four contests; finishing with 8 runs batted in on the week. He also scored 7 runs and recorded a 1.056 slugging percentage. Beeler had a high of 4 hits against Rutgers-Camden.

     
   

SLIAC/Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week
J.D. Theile, Eureka College

J.D. Theile picks up the conference Pitcher of the Week award after notching a win in his only start of the week. Theile, a freshman from Bloomington, Ill., worked eight shutout innings while picking up a win over Monmouth (Ill.) He allowed just 3 hits in the start, allowing no runs while striking out 7 and walking just 1. 

     
   

SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week
Maddy Strickland, Fontbonne University

Maddy Strickland earns Softball Hitter of the Week honors after going 11-for-15 at the plate for the Griffins in four games last week. Strickland had 3 three-hit games with an additional two-hit game. She finished the week with a .733 batting average and a 1.067 slugging percentage. Strickland also finished with 4 runs scored while driving in 6 and added 1 stolen base. 

     
   

SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Olivia Carter, Spalding University

Carter, a sophomore from Springfield, Ill., recorded a pair of wins in the circle for the Golden Eagles last week in picking up weekly honors. Carter worked 7 full innings in a win over Hanover, allowing no runs and six hits while striking out 5. She followed with another shutout win, this time of Rose-Hulman, in which she held the opponent to just one hit while recording 2 strikeouts. On the week she threw 12 scoreless innings, allowing just 7 hits while striking out seven.

     
   

SLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Daniel Gomez, Principia College

Gomez takes home his 3rd Player of the Week award this season after rolling off four wins for the Panthers last week. Gomez, a junior from Bogota, Columbia, went 3-0 at #1 singles play and added another win in #3 doubles with partner Brody Swan. Gomez picked up singles wins over Vassar, Wooster, and Lutheran to push his season singles record to 10-1 this season.

     
   

SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Chloe Loehr, Fontbonne University

Chloe Loehr is the SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Loehr, a freshman, battled her way at #1 singles and #1 doubles for the Griffins as Fontbonne competed against Missouri Baptist.

     
   

SLIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Dimitrije Mitic, Webster University

Mitic, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, took 3rd place in the Javelin at the WashU Mini Meet over the weekend. His distance of 49.57 meters was a personal best and he currently leads the SLIAC and is 48th nationally in the event.

     
   

SLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Carson Gross, Webster University

Carson Gross competed in three events over the weekend to take home weekly honors. Gross, a sophomore, was part of the Gorloks 4x100 meter relay team that finished 2nd at the WashU Mini Meet, setting a school record with a time of 41.96 seconds. He also had personal best times in the 100-meter dash (11.13 seconds) and 200-meter dash (22.41 seconds). Both of those times currently place him 3rd in the SLIAC.

     
   

SLIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Abbie Stolzer, Webster University

Abbie Stolzer, a senior at Webster, set a new personal best in the hammer throw last weekend. She finished with a distance of 36.16 meters, placing 8th at the WashU Mini Meet. Her distance places her 5th in the SLIAC this season.

     
   

SLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Kelsey Phillips, Spalding University

Kelsey Phillips claims weekly honors after competing in the Transylvania Invitational over the weekend. Phillips placed 2nd in the steeplechase with a time of 12:17 which ranks her 1st in the SLIAC and 21st in the nation.

  • Dakota Borman, Webster University (Baseball) Tallied seven strikeouts in five innings during a win over Eureka.
  • Abby Burroughs, Webster University (Softball) Hit .417 with two home runs and six RBi last week for the Gorloks.
  • Anthony Clark, MacMurray College (Baseball) Picked up a win against Northland, going seven innings and striking out 12 while allowing just one run on three hits.
  • Sean Green, Eureka College (Baseball) Hit .571 in four games for the Red Devils with 4 stolen bases.
  • Hannah Harbaugh, MacMurray College (Softball) Hit .409 with four RBi and four runs scored for the Highlanders.
  • Deidra Holzhauer, Greenville University (Softball) Hit .385 with seven RBI in four games for the Panthers.
  • Madison Ingram, Westminster College (Softball) Threw a two-hit shutout win over Iowa Wesleyan, recording six strikeouts.
  • Zach Jones, Spalding University (Baseball) Recorded two wins for Spalding; one in relief over Webster and one in a start against Fontbonne.
  • Ally Klein, Spalding University (Softball) Hit .583 with four RBI in four games for Spalding.
  • Eric Meyer, Spalding University (Baseball) Hit .571 over a pair of doubleheaders last week.
  • Sydney Shubert, Eureka College (Softball) Finished with a .571 batting average and six runs scored for the Red Devils.
  • Matt Staker, Webster University (Baseball) Went 4-for-4 with 4 RBI in game two of a doubleheader against Eureka.
