DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Eric Meyer, Spalding University

Meyer powers his way to the Player of the Week award after hitting four home runs last, tying the Spalding program record for home runs in a season during the NCAA era. Meyer, a junior infielder, hit a long ball in four separate games last week, helping the Golden Eagles to five conference wins. He also drove in 10 on the week while hitting .400 and finished with a 1.100 slugging percentage. Meyer had three multi-hit games and three games of three RBI as well. 

   

DIAMOND SPORTS BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Peyton Hood, Spalding University

Hood came on in relief to secure a win for the Golden Eagles. Hood entered the game in the first inning, with his team trailing, and went on to throw 6 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. He struck out 12 in the game as Spalding fought their way back to victory. 

   

SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Taylor Jackson, Webster University

Jackson batted .600 while hitting two home runs and driving in seven over four games for the Gorloks. She had a pair of multiple hit games including a three-hit outing against Principia. In addition, Jackson drove in five in game one of a doubleheader against MacMurray. She finished with a 1.600 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage on the week, crossing the plate five times.

   

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Breelyn Craig, Webster University

Craig notched a pair of wins in the circle for Webster, working 12 innings and tallying 15 strikeouts. She finished with a 0.58 earned-run average over her two starts and allowed just six hits total on the week. 

   

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Brody Swan, Principia College

Brody Swan, a senior from Edmond, Okla., was undefeated; going 4-0 on the week with two wins at both singles and doubles play. Swan won 6-4, 6-3 at #6 singles over Greenville and blanked Westminster 6-0, 6-0. He also added wins over doubles, splitting time between Daniel Gomez and Greg Sovie as partners. He showed his versatility by picking up wins at both #1 and #3 doubles last week.

   

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
David Martin, Greenville University

Martin, a senior from Witt, Ill., claims the weekly award after his performance in the Dewey Allgood Invitational. Martin took first place in the decathlon at the invitational, totaling 6308 points. He set personal records in the 100, long jump, high jump, hurdles, disc, and 1500. He currently ranks 12th in Division III nationally.

   

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Brandyn Robinson, Webster University

Robinson ran a pair of personal bests at the Dewey Allgood Invitational. He finished the 200-meter dash in 22.06 seconds, finishing 4th overall. He was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team that took 6th and finished in a time of 3:28.

   

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Jakara Davidson-Brooks, Webster University

Davidson-Brooks set three personal bests last weekend. She placed 3rd in the long jump, with a mark of 5.40 meters. She also set personal bests in the 200 meters and 4x100 meter relay events.

   

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - APRIL 22
Minnell Fundora, Webster University

Fundora competed in two events last weekend, taking 1st in the 1500 meter race. She finished with a time of 4:48, setting a personal best. She also was part of the 5th place team in the 4x400 meter relay. She currently ranks first in the SLIAC in both events.

  • Ryan Clavin, Westminster College (Baseball) Hit .636 on the week with a two home run game against MacMurray
  • Matt Mainint, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Hit .583 with five RBI over three games for the Griffins
  • Matt Mulhearn, Webster University (Baseball) Picked up two wins last week, striking out 13 over 8 1/3 innings
  • Hayden Radford, MacMurray College (Baseball) Struck out 11 in a game against Iowa Wesleyan
  • Ben Swords, Webster University (Baseball) Had three multi-hit games with 10 runs scored and nine RBI in four games for the Gorloks
  • Luke Summers, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Tied school record for wins in a season with his 11th victory of the year
  • Drew Thoele, Eureka College (Baseball) Recorded seven hits in just four games for Eureka   
  • Raven Venegas, Fontbonne University (Track and Field) Had three top-five finishes including a pair of 3rd place finishes.
  • Bailee Zemianek, Westminster College (Softball) Hit .600 with three home runs five games for the Blue Jays
