Softball winning streak goes to eight with sweep over MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team extended their winning streak to eight and moved their record over the .500 mark with 10-0 and 15-2 wins at MacMurray on Monday.

Game one served as the SLIAC league contest that was postponed earlier in the season.

The Panthers received three hits from Jordyn Wieland and Josie Koontz in game one.

Greenville scored three in the first inning to set the tone and were able to complete the game in five innings when they passed the eight run advantage.

Cayla Speaks earned her first win of the season in the circle.  She pitched four innings and scattered five hits.

Kendall Farr completed the game with a scoreless inning.

Game two went Greenville's way, and they played all seven innings.

The Panthers fell behind when they allowed a first inning run, but the bats woke up to plate 15 runs over the rest of the game.

Wieland, Kate Jolliff Rosado, and Farr had three hits apiece.  Rosado hit a three-run homer, and Farr had a solo home run.

Maegan Stone went the distance for the Panthers in her complete game win.  She allowed two runs and struck out five in improving her record to 6-4.

The Panthers (16-15, 13-3 SLIAC) will conclude their regular season on Thursday with a doubleheader against first-place Westminster.
