EUREKA, Ill. - Westminster baseball earned a series win over Eureka, taking two games from the Red Devils.
The Blue Jays move to 15-13 overall and 10-7 in the SLIAC, moving to third place in the West Division.
Game One
The Blue Jays scored first on an error by Eureka to score Brandon Beeler, putting them up 1-0 after the top of the second inning. Eureka came back in the bottom of the second to get back one run after the runner scored while Westminster turned a double play.
Eureka added another unearned run in the third to take the 2-1 lead, but Westminster came back in the fourth to score on twice; once on a groundout RBI from Ryan Klimkiewicz and once on an RBI single from Adam Mundle.
The Red Devils came back in the seventh to score two more runs and take the win.
Skyler Dickneite took the loss after pitching 6.1 innings, giving up one hits and four runs, two unearned.
Game Two
Westminster picked up a 7-0 shutout win in game two with seven shutout innings from Ryan Clavin, who earned the win to improve to 3-3 on the season.
All of the Blue Jay scoring happened in the second and third innings, starting out with an RBI single from Mundle to score Will Stonecipher.
Westminster added six more runs in the third, including RBI singles from Zach Stiles and Nick Bohlmann, to take the win.
Game Three
In the rubber match, Andrew Boessen earned the start for Westminster. He pitched four innings, giving up two runs, before being relieved by Alex Dickneite. He pitched five innings, also giving up two runs, and eventually earning the win for the Blue Jays after a four-run fourth inning.
After Eureka scored first in the second innings, Westminster took the 2-1 lead on two RBI walks.
The Red Devils tied the game in the third before the Blue Jays picked up four more runs in the fourth. Mason Price picked up two RBI on a double down the left field line, and Robery Shifrin and Stonecipher each added an RBI single.
Eureka scored two more in the eighth, but Dickneite's solid outing kept the lead for Westminster and earned the series win.
The Blue Jays continue conference play Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series at home against Fontbonne. First pitch of the Saturday doubleheader is at 1 p.m.
