Westminster Baseball Sweeps Principia to End Regular Season

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster baseball took two games from Principia to finish the regular season.

The Blue Jays end the season 20-13 overall, and 15-7 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

In game one, Westminster shutout the Panthers 6-0 on a two-hitter from Ian Cassidy

The Blue Jays scored two runs in the second inning on RBI singles from Rob Shifrin and Nick Bohlmann

Brandon Beeler added two more runs in the third with a two-run home run, also scoring Zach Stiles

The final runs of the game were scored in the sixth inning on another single from Bohlmann that scored two runs. Blake Strebler then doubled to score Bohlmann. 

Cassidy pitched all seven innings, giving up only two hits and striking out 11. 

In game two, the Blue Jays won 7-4. 

The Panthers got on the board first, but Westminster answered in the bottom of the inning when Bohlmann scored on a wild pitch. Beeler then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Strebler, making the score 2-1. 

Principia tied the game in the third, but RBI from Beeler and Will Stonecipher in the bottom of the inning put the Blue Jays back on to 4-2. 

After three scoreless innings from both teams, Principia scored two more runs in the seventh to tie the game at four runs apiece. 

Three doubles in the eighth gave Westminster three more runs to secure the lead and eventually the win. Bohlmann, Strebler, and Mason Price all recorded RBI with doubles to make the final score 7-4 in favor of Westminster. 

Alex Dickniete pitched four innings and gave up tow runs on three hits. His brother Skyler pitched three innings and also gave up two runs on three hits. Ryan Clavin pitched the finaltwo innings for the win, giving up just two hits and no runs. 

Westminster now moves to the postseason, facing Spalding May 10.
