Women's basketball crushes Robert Morris Springfield

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The first day of Greenville's invitational tournament went the Lady Panthers way as the team gained an 82-29 win over Robert Morris Springfield.

Greenville had a quintet of women who scored 10 or more points, led by Laura Goodnight's 13 point outing.  Goodnight also gathered 12 rebounds.

Wesley Woodard and Elaina Davis posted 11 points.  Morgan St. James and Meredith Crosier added 10 points each.

Jantzen Michael led Greenville in assists with five, followed by Claire Schmitt with four assists.

Greenville's superior defensive effort limited Robert Morris Springfield to a .228 shooting percentage as the Eagles only made 13-of-57 field goal attempts.

The Lady Panthers (6-2) host St. Mary-of-the-Woods at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the conclusion of the tournament.  St. Mary-of-the-Woods gained an 86-76 win over MacMurray in Friday's opening game.
