Baseball receives two roundtrippers from Mokris in 12-7 win

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The baseball team avenged an early season loss against Rose-Hulman with a 12-7 win in their second meeting of the season.

Greenville jumped ahead 4-0 in the top of the first when Landon Mokris hit the first of his two home runs and drove in two runs.

In the bottom of the first, RHIT cut the lead to 4-3, but the Panthers added one run back in the top of the second to lead 5-3.

GU added three runs in the top of the seventh, and both teams scored four times in the ninth inning.

Mokris finished the game 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two homers, and six RBI.

Drew Frey also produced three hits and three runs.

George Schneider was 1-for-2 and scored three times as well.

Starting pitcher Cade Buehnerkemper worked four innings and allowed three runs on four hits.

Dylan Boehm picked up the win in relief with three scoreless innings.

Terry Millikan also worked a scoreless inning.

Ian Wilson permitted four runs on five hits in one third of an inning, but Jacob Hammer closed out the win by recording the last two outs of the ballgame.

The Panthers (15-14) host Principia on Friday and Saturday at Robert E. Smith Field.
