Spalding Breaks Westminster Volleyball Win Streak

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Westminster volleyball came up short in a 3-1 loss to Spalding for its first SLIAC loss of the season.

The Blue Jays fall to 9-1 in the conference and 13-4 overall, while the Eagles improve to 11-7 and 5-3 in the SLIAC.

"Credit Spalding for having a solid game plan and sticking to it," said Westminster Head Coach Curtis Madson. "We fought hard but in the end they executed well."

The Blue Jays came out strong with a 25-18 win in the first set. The Eagles took control in the next three sets to overcome Westminster 3-1. The Blue Jays nearly took the second set but lost 25-23. They then couldn't come back in the next two sets, with Spalding taking each 25-18.

Three Blue Jays recorded double-digit kills including Hannah Marshall (15), Ashley Kistaitis (12) and Nikki Testerman (11). Kayla Reeg added 41 assists while Bridget Ringwald recorded 23 digs.

"Nikki Testerman has been hitting her stride lately," said Madson. "She has finally settled in with her position change."

Westminster plays two nonconference matches Saturday, Oct. 8 against Millikin and Kenyon.
