Four-Run Seventh Sends Griffins Past Mighty Macs

AUBURNDALE, Fla.—It may have taken a little over four hours, but the Fontbonne University baseball team earned another come-from-behind win knocking off Immaculata, 13-12.
The Griffins trailed 5-1 going into the bottom of the fourth. Kameron Brooks got thing started with a two out single and advanced to second on Carter Lee's single.
Grant Staffen reached base on an error allowing Brooks to score. Then, another error by Immaculata allowed Lee and Staffen to score putting Fontbonne down 5-4.
The Mighty Macs scored three in the next half inning extending its advantage out to 8-4. However, the Griffins answered right back.
In the fifth, the Griffins had the bases loaded and Lee hits an infield single allowing Ty Kueper to score. Grant Staffen followed with a bases clearing double to tie the game at 8-8.
In the sixth, the Griffins made it a 9-8 game when Brooks hit an RBI single to second that scored Ty Kueper.
The Mighty Macs scored four runs in the next half inning taking a 12-9 lead. Fontbonne wasted no time responding in the bottom half scoring four runs on three hits capped off by Trey Kueper's RBI double that allowed Thomas Purschke to score, who hit a two RBI single in the previous at-bat, giving them a 13-12 lead.
Nolan Gutjhar shut down any type of comeback the final two innings giving Fontbonne the one-run win.
