Westminster Men's Soccer Falls to Central in Nonconference Match

PELLA, Iowa - Westminster men's soccer fell to Central 3-0 after a long lightning delay.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-5 with the loss.

"We came out way too slow and got punished for it," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We responded well in the second half but hopefully we can use that momentum going forward."

All three of Central's going came in the first seven minutes of the game, including the first goal that was scored after 25 seconds. In the second minute, Central scored again on a rebound from a corner kick. The third goal, in the seventh minute, put the Dutch up 3-0.

The Blue Jays were able to regroup and hold Central scoreless throughout the remainder of the game, but the offense was unable to score a goal despite tallying 10 shots, although none were on goal.

Connor Bandre' started in goal and took the loss for Westminster. Chase Vogt played the majority of time in goal, making six saves.

Westminster returns home to face Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday at 7 p.m.
