Women's basketball rolls to 71-33 win over Blackburn

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball extended their winning streak to three with a 71-33 win over Blackburn on Monday night.

Greenville dominated the first quarter 19-1 and was up 37-17 at the half.

The Panthers jumped even further ahead with a 26-8 showing in the third quarter to take a 63-25 advantage into the final quarter.  Using reserves in the final period, the teams each scored eight points.  Greenville's largest lead was 41 points with 15 seconds remaining in the third period.

Jantzen Michael was the leading scorer for Greenville with 17 points after making 6-of-9 shots and 4-of-6 three pointers.  She also added a free throw.

Morgan St. James came off the bench to end up one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Greenville forced Blackburn into committing 25 turnovers, and the Panthers swiped 14 steals.  Megan Barrett led GU with four steals as the Panthers scored 37 points off Blackburn turnovers.

The Panthers (7-2, 2-0 SLIAC) won their third straight game for the second time this season, and they return to action on Saturday at MacMurray.
