Women's soccer battles in 2-1 loss to Coe

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team competed against a solid Coe squad but came up short in a 2-1 loss on Saturday.

The match was scoreless in the first half, and all of the scoring occurred in the first 25 minutes of the second half as a goal by Breanna Thomas was sandwiched by two Coe tallies.

The Panthers outshot Coe by a 13-9 margin.  Jade Taylor had three shots and also added an assist on Thomas's goal.

Thomas, Dani Pearce, Kaylie Weideman, and Taylor posted Greenville's shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Marjory Coates stopped three of Coe's five shots on goal as she collected three saves.

The game's opening goal occurred in the 47th minute, followed by Greenville's score in the 51st minute.  Coe's winning goal came in the 69th minute.

The Panthers (1-2) will host Millikin on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
