Volleyball Falls to Fontbonne

The Blackburn College Volleyball falls to Fontbonne 3-0 by the scores of 25-23, 25-17, 26-24. The match took place in Carlinville on Saturday, October 23rd. 

 

This match was part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as the team was raising money for CF research.




Even though the score was three to zero, this was a tightly contested match. In the first set, there were five lead changes and seven ties. The second set was led by the Griffins all the way through. The third set was filled with four lead changes and eight tied scores. 

 

The Beavers were led by sophomore Emilie King. She was credited with 10 kills on 26 attacks and three aces. Senior Lucy Magnussen followed with eight kills on only 17 attacks. Jessica Muckensturm continued to have an impressive freshman season, as she had eight kills on 22 attacks. 

 

The Beavers as a team had seven total blocks. Blackburn was led by Muckensturm; she had three block solos and one block assist. Magnussen had two solos and a block assist. 



Blackburn falls to 2-22 (SLIAC 2-8) and Fontbonne improves to 8-14 (SLIAC 5-5). Blackburn will host Westminster on Wednesday for senior night.
