Westminster Women's Soccer Downed by Central

PELLA, Iowa - Westminster women's soccer takes a 4-0 loss to Central.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-4 to start the season while Central improves to 5-1-1.

"Today was a hard road game," said Westminster Head Coach Jen Dyson. "Central's depth was too much for us to keep up with and we were unable to finish when we had opportunities."

Westminster played 24 minutes of scoreless soccer until the Dutch struck in the 25th minute to go up 1-0.

The Dutch went on a scoring frenzy in the last 20 minutes of the game to secure their 4-0 shutout fate. Mikaela Erikson scored on a free kick in the 73rd minute, Kallie Holte added a goal off of a header from a cross, and Kayla Sunvold tapped in a rebound in the 82nd minute.

"While today was not consistent, it is important to look forward to the opportunity to set the tone tomorrow," said Dyson.

Ellen Woolsey added four saves while Sarah Cradick added three. Morgan Henry led the offensive effort with four shots.

The Blue Jays stay on the road to face Simpson Saturday at 5 p.m.
