Storm cruise past Iowa Wesleyan 8-0

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa — Dani Marquez scored two goals and assisted on two more as the Simpson women's soccer team had its best offensive performance of the season in an 8-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan on Monday afternoon.

Marquez and the Storm (3-8) snapped a four-match losing streak in dominating fashion, outshooting the Tigers (2-6) 48-2. Simpson's back line allowed just one shot on goal, which was saved by goalkeeper Riley Adams in the second half.

Cami Schmalz opened the scoring in the sixth minute off the helper from Marquez. Aimee Shrock and Casey Reisen converted first half penalty kicks to open up the flood gates.

Logan Pettit, Victoria Jordan and Maddie Simmons also scored goals for Simpson. Zoe Seiler earned the win between the posts, going the first 45 minutes without facing a shot before Adams came on in relief in the second half.
