Women's Volleyball Falls In Four Sets Against Illinois College, Fitzgerald Posts Season-High 20 Kills

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team suffered a tough four-set loss at the hands of the Illinois College Lady Blues.
Final: Illinois College 3, Fontbonne 1

Set Breakdown:
Set 1: The Lady Blues opened with a 13-6 lead on a block assist from Abbie Horstmann and Morgan Burr. The Lady Blues never relinquished its lead the rest of the way going on for the 25-20 win.
Set 2: It was a back-and-forth contest early but a 4-0 run from Fontbonne midway through the set had them out in front 16-13 on Olivia Tallo's kill. The Griffins were able to fend off Illinois College the rest of the way cruising to the 25-20 win.
Set 3: Fontbonne led 8-5 on Jadyn Fitzgerald's kill and still led 16-13 later in the set on a Lady Blues attack error. However, after trailing 19-18 Illinois College closed out the set on a 7-1 run for the 25-20 win.
Set 4: The Griffins were in control in the fourth with the team leading 13-8 on Fitzgerald's service ace. Fontbonne expanded on its lead out to 20-14 on Kelly Herr's kill, though the Lady Blues battled back to take a 22-21 lead.
From there, the two teams went point-for-point but in the end it was Illinois College going on for the 28-26 set and match win.

- Fontbonne finished with 47 kills and a .121 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, the Griffins came away with 72 digs and eight block assists.
- Illinois College also ended with 47 and a .158 hitting percentage.
- At the net, the Lady Blues finished with 24 block assists.

- Fitzgerald dominated throughout with a season-high 20 kills and .286 hitting percentage.
- Hannah Gallagher recorded double-double number seven with 12 kills and 15 digs.
- Kelly Herr added seven kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
- Abby Grumich earned her third double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs.
- Emma Pramik finished with a team-high 16 digs.
- Rae Andrews contributed 11 digs. Olivia Tallo led at the net with four block assists.
