Women's soccer locks up with Westminster in 0-0 draw

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team piled up 20 shots against Westminster on Saturday but none found the net as the Panthers and Blue Jays collected a 0-0 double overtime tie.

Greenville outshot Westminster 14-2 in the first half, but Westminster came back to hold an 8-2 advantage in shots in the second half.

The Panthers added four shots in the first overtime, and the Blue Jays had the only shot of the second overtime.

Overall, Greenville held a 20-11 advantage in shots.

Jade Taylor returned from injury and led the Panthers with six shots.  Breanna Thomas took four shots, and Dani Pearce added three shots.

Goalkeeper Marjory Coates had eight saves in her fourth shutout of the season as her goals against average fell to 0.89.  In eight SLIAC matches, Coates has posted a GAA of 0.73 with three shutouts.

Prior to the match, the Panthers honored their four seniors - Maddie Saffel, Gabbie Hartin, Suzi Conner, and Dani Pearce.  In four years, they have helped the Panthers to a record of 41-30-5.

The Panthers (11-5-1, 4-2-1 SLIAC) travel to Spalding for a match on Tuesday afternoon.
