Baseball grabs 17-7 win over Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. — The baseball team won their opening game of a three-game series with Blackburn by taking a 17-7 decision on Friday.

The Panthers fell behind 3-0 after one inning, but they scored at least one run in the remaining six innings of the game. A nine-run second inning gave Greenville control.

Jesse Getz homered for the Panthers.

Austin Marsh came up with a 4-for-5 effort with four runs scored and two RBI.

Andrew Torbeck and Adam Lamb each went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Torbeck produced three RBI, and Lamb had two RBI.

Bryce Pearce was the winning pitcher. He went six innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on four hits. He struck out five and walked three.

The Panthers (14-14, 9-6 SLIAC) travel back to Blackburn on Saturday for a doubleheader at 11 a.m.
