Women's volleyball handles SLIAC preseason favorite Webster in first of two scheduled fall matchups

GREENVILLE, Ill. - In the 2021 fall SLIAC preseason poll, the defending 2021 SLIAC spring regular season and tournament champion women's volleyball team from Greenville University earned the second position to a Webster team that was third last season. In the first matchup of two regular season contests scheduled between the two squads favored, the Greenville team rolled with a four set, 25-16, 22-25, 25-13, 25-15 win at Webster's Grant Gymnasium that put them in the driver's seat for their first loop through conference play.

Greenville posted hitting rates above .200 in each of their winning sets, achieving a high of .333 in the third set with 15 kills, two errors, and 39 attacks.

Anna Finch provided Greenville with a season-high 17 kills in the match, posting a .429 kill rate in 35 attacks. She only had two errors and also helped the team with three block assists.

Sacorra Patton produced 12 kills in the four set 98 minute contest, and Jasmin Smith added 11 kills, 17 digs, two solo blocks, and two block assists in a well-rounded effort.

Jordan Lempa and Kaitlin Murray organized Greenville effective scoring attack. Lempa tallied 23 set assists, and Murray was right behind with 19 set assists in a combined role.

Emily Stahl caused trouble for Webster with her serving efforts, collecting three service aces in the match.

Two-time reigning SLIAC defensive player of the week Chasity Hill led Greenville's back row with 20 digs.

The Panthers (10-2, 4-0 SLIAC) travel to North Park on Saturday for matches against Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the host North Park.
