Women's volleyball records win over Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's volleyball team gained a three-set win over Spalding on Thursday night.  The Panthers won by a 25-15, 25-16, 25-22 final score in their first match of the season at H.J. Long Gymnasium.

After easing to victories in the first two sets, Greenville needed to recover from a 20-17 final set deficit to rattle off eight of the final 10 points for the victory.

Brittni Bell was effective for Greenville as she hit at a .538 rate in the match.  She had eight kills and one error in 15 attacks.

Allyson Mitchell, fresh off her ascent to the career record in kills, added 11 kills but had six errors.

Alex Falcone collected 15 assists as she and Abby Quirin served as primary setters.

Allyson Grabowski posted a team-leading 18 digs, and Bell supplied a solo block and four block assists.

The Panthers (14-4, 8-3 SLIAC) are off for nearly a week before they travel to Blackburn next Wednesday.
