Women's Volleyball Secures No. 5 Seed In SLIAC Tournament With Sweep Over Blackburn On Senior Night

Prior to the contest, the team honored its four seniors Rae Andrews, Abby Grumich, Claire Sease, and Olivia Tallo.
Set Breakdown
Set 1: The Griffins trailed 14-13 but went on a 6-0 run capped off by Sease's service ace for the 19-14 lead. The team never let go of the advantage from there going on for the 25-20 win on back-to-back kills from Jadyn Fitzgerald and Hannah Gallagher.
Set 2: It was back-and-forth play once again early but the Beavers held a 13-11 lead on Elizabeth Boyer's kill. The Griffins answered in a big way going on a 7-0 run this time around with Rae Andrews kill giving them the 18-13 lead.
The Beavers tried to make it interesting late cutting the deficit down to 23-21, though a kill from Fitzgerald and a service ace from Andrews secured the 25-21 win.
Set 3: It was locked up 10-10 in the third but the Griffins closed out the set in style with a 15-2 run for the dominating 25-12 set and match win.
Head-to-Head
- The Griffins finished with 37 kills and a .163 hitting percentage.
- The team got it done from the service line with 16 service aces. It's one off the season-high of 17 they set back on Feb. 20th against Eureka.
- Blackburn ended with 25 kills and a .144 hitting percentage.
- At the net, the Beavers had 20 block assists.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Coming off a 20-kill performance, Fitzgerald ended with a game-high 12 kills and .207 hitting percentage.
- Hannah Gallagher added eight kills, while Kelly Herr and Olivia Tallo had five each.
- Abby Grumich filled up the stat sheet with four kills, 30 assists, a career-high seven service aces, and seven digs.
- Emma Pramik led defensively with 17 digs.
- Rae Andrews added 12 digs and four service aces.
