Baseball topped by DePauw in home opener

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team suffered a 6-1 loss to DePauw in their first game at home on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers were held to just three hits as they played catch-up all afternoon.

DePauw got a home run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.

Greenville tied the game in the bottom half of their first inning on Shane Olmsted's RBI single.

The Tigers got two runs in the top of the third and two more in the top of the sixth to go ahead 5-1.

They added an insurance run in the top of the ninth.

Greenville's Sam Hodges and Mike Hardin provided one hit each on the afternoon.

Adam Lamb was the losing pitcher as he permitted five runs, four earned, in five innings.

The Panthers (1-4) host DePauw in a doubleheader on Saturday.
