Men's soccer improves conference position with 3-0 win over Blackburn

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team gained a 3-0 win over Blackburn on Wednesday night, avenging a loss in overtime to the Beavers earlier in the season.

The Panthers put themselves on the scoreboard early when Jared McPeek posted a goal in the fifth minute of the game. Pablo Valverde and Jose Soutullo were credited with the assists.

In the 40th minute of the match, Benn Jann and Eric Miller connected with Juan Salazar for a goal and a 2-0 lead by Greenville.

Greenville sealed the match in the 87th minute with McPeek's second goal of the match with a pair of assists from Matt White and goalkeeper Pedro Vebber.

Vebber recorded the shut out in the match with three saves. He faced 10 shots.

Greenville held a 20-10 shot advantage in the match.

The Panthers (7-7, 5-3 SLIAC) host Eureka on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. in Greenville at Francis Field.
