Men's soccer bounces back with 5-2 win

EUREKA, Ill. - The men's soccer team posted a 5-2 win at Eureka on Wednesday as Jared McPeek and Pedro Gonzalez-Moro each led the Panthers with two goals.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead with two goals in a span of three minutes midway through the first half.  McPeek scored a goal in the 24th minute, and Gonzalez-Moro added his first goal in the 27th minute.

Eureka cut the score to 2-1 at halftime, but the Panthers came right back with two goals, first from Gonzalez-Moro and later from McPeek, to make the score 4-1.

The Red Devils scored in the 81st minute, but Rafael Navas sent a ball into the net with 63 seconds remaining to restore the three goal advantage.

The Panthers dominated play with a 30-4 shot advantage.  GU had 20 shots in the first half and 10 in the second stanza.

Hiram Cruz posted the goalkeeping win, but he only faced two shots.

The Panthers (4-3-3, 4-1-2 SLIAC) will face Principia at home on Saturday at 5 p.m.
