Westminster Men's Soccer Triumphs Over Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Westminster men's soccer completes an undefeated weekend in Memphis with a 4-2 victory over Rhodes College.

Westminster improves to 3-1 on the seaon. The victory over Rhodes was the team's second consecutive win.

"I thought we played really well again here today," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We are starting to really implement the thoughts, concepts and ideas that we work on in training."

The first half of the match was a true back-and-forth between both teams as Rhodes responded to each goal that the Blue Jays scored.

Daniel Barone led the attack with the squad's first goal in the third minute, but was shortly answered by Rhodes' William Mitchell in the 17th minute.

Austin Chandler netted a ball in the 35th minute on a pass from Mauricio Mateo to put Westminster back on top, but the Rhodes again responded with a goal of their own in the 38th. The teams left for the locker rooms at halftime with a 2-2 tie.

The Blue Jays entered the second half with a quick goal from David Immanuel in the 47th to put themselves ahead once again and never looked back.

Drake Trease added an assurance goal in the 82nd minute on an assist from Peter Gerber

"Our effort in the second half was phenomenal and we dug deep to finish out with the win," said Galla.

Westminster outshot Rhodes 15-5 including four from Barone.
