Townsend Ties Women's Soccer Season Scoring Record, Wilfong Notches Hat Trick

EUREKA, Ill. - With the Westminster women's soccer 8-0 win over Eureka, Paige Townsend tied the season goals scored record at 19 while Cara Wilfong notches her first career hat trick.

The previous record was set by Keri Kuhn in 1999. 

The Blue Jays improve to 10-6 overall and 7-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

In the first 15 seconds of the match, Westminster came out strong with a goal immediately from Natalie Schulte

Townsend scored her 19th goal of the season just minutes later on an assist from Payron Beeler, while Heid Gundy netted a ball as well all within the first five minutes. 

Madison Ekern tallied a goal shortly after in the 7th minute. 

From there, Cara Wilfong dominated the remaining minutes for Westminster, scoring three goals within the next 25 minutes to tally her first career hat trick.

Westminster heads into the SLIAC Tournament to face top-seed Webster Thursday on the road.
