Women's volleyball jumps all over Blackburn in three set win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team picked up a three set win over Blackburn on Wednesday night, capturing their fourth three-set victory in succession and gaining a 25-11, 25-17, 25-11 triumph.

The Panthers opened the match with a strong .333 hitting rate in the first set with 13 kills and three errors in 30 attacks.

After slipping to a line of 14/7/41/.171 in the second set, the Panthers bounced right back and compiled a line of 15/4/32/.344 in the final set.

Jasmin Smith produced a double-double for Greenville in the contest, her fourth of the season. She had 10 kills and 14 digs while also adding three service aces for 13 points.

Anna Finch was second in kills for GU with eight in 17 attacks. She had two errors and hit .353.

Lauren Spivey added a hitting rate of .500 with six kills and one error in 10 attempts, and Sacorra Patton posted a hitting rate of .417 with seven kills, two errors, and 12 attacks.

Greenville's defensive match play was led by Smith, Chasity Hill, and Jordan Lempa. Hill totaled 13 digs, and Lempa posted 11 digs.

At the net, Finch helped GU with one solo block and one block assist, and Patton and Emily Stahl each had two block assists.

The Panthers (9-2, 3-0 SLIAC) are off for a week as they prepare for a showdown at Webster on Thursday, Sept. 30.
