Men's basketball tops Principia on road

ELSAH, Ill. - The men's basketball team rolled to a 124-100 win at Principia on Tuesday night as they moved into a second place tie in the conference standings.

Greenville was led in scoring by Marvin Bateman who posted 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, including 5-of-13 three pointers, and 2-of-2 free throws.

Sontiago Grady and Eric Williams each managed 18 points in the win.

Henry Johnson filled his line with 12 points and team highs with 10 rebounds and six assists.

The Panthers suffocating defense resulted in 33 Principia turnovers and 19 steals for Greenville. Riley Simmons paced Greenville with five steals, followed by Bateman with four.

The Panthers held a 56-42 lead after the first half and led by as many as 33 points in the second half.

The Panthers (5-8, 4-2 SLIAC) host Blackburn on Saturday at 3 p.m. in their return to action.
