FULTON, Mo. - Blake Strebler hit a walk off single in the bottom of the tenth inning to take home a win for the Blue Jays in game one against Robert Morris-Peoria, then added his fifth home run of the year in an 11-4 second game win.
Westminster improves to 5-3 on the year after taking the series from the Eagles.
Alex Dickneite took the mound for game one, pitching seven innings and giving up four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.
The Eagles scored the first run of the day in the first inning, but Westminster answered in the thirs with two runs. After an overthrow made from right field, Strebler crossed the plate first for Westminster. Nick Bohlmann hit an infield single to score Nick Cessna.
The Blue Jays added two more runs in the fifth to pad their lead, including a sacrifice fly from Cessna and an RBI double from Bohlmann.
The Eagles tied the game at four runs apiece in the sixth inning by adding on three runs.
Both teams remained scoreless over the next three innings, forcing extra innings. Cessa came in to pitch in the eighth inning for Westminster, going three innings.
Robert Morris - Peoria tacked on two runs in the top of the tenth, forcing Westminster to make a comeback in the bottom of the inning.
A.C. Long, Adam Mundle, and Strebler added three RBI, including Strebler's walk off single, to take the game in the bottom of the tenth.
Thomas Kinney took the mound in game two for Westminster, going six innings and giving up two runs on five hits.
The Blue Jays put on an offensive showcase in the second game, totalling 11 runs. The Eagles scored first in the first inning, but Westminster answered with three runs in the third and never gave up the lead from there.
A five-run fifth inning was the best outing of the day for Westminster, which included an RBI double from Wyatt Ahart, and RBI single from Mundle, and the two-run blast from Strebler, his fifth of the year.
The Eagles attempted a comeback in the seventh inning by adding two runs off of Blue Jay pitcher Justin Riggins, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 9-run deficit and Westminster took the game 11-4.
Strebler went 4-9 on the day with three RBI. Ryan Gvillo and Ahart both added two RBI on the day.
Westminster begins conference play on the road Saturday, March 18 at Iowa Wesleyan.
