Baseball drops game at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The baseball team was dealt an 8-6 defeat by Rhodes in their season opener on Friday.

The Panthers started the game with a two-run first inning when Travis Ralls and Austin Marsh delivered RBI singles.

Rhodes tied the game in the second, but Greenville quickly regained the lead when Sam Hodges hit an RBI single.

Rhodes answered again with a tying run.

The Panthers put three runs on the scorebard in the top of the fifth inning after Marsh posted a two-run double and Klaiton Wolff had an RBI groundout.

Greenville gave up three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and Rhodes tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Hodges and Marsh provided the offensive firepower with three hits each.

The losing pitcher was Adam Lamb who allowed three runs in two innings.

The Panthers (0-1) will play Rhodes again on Saturday in a doubleheader.
