Men's basketball wins important road game at Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team collected a 134-124 win over Blackburn on Wednesday night.

The Panthers outscored Blackburn in both halves and never relinquished the lead after Stevonte Young's three-pointer made the score 37-34 in favor of the Panthers with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half.

Kenny Greene was the leading scorer for the Panthers in the contest with 22 points, and he added seven rebounds.  Elmo Smith followed closely with 21 points.

Shane Smith produced a well rounded effort with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Ethan Leib led Greenville with a team-high four steals as he led the defensive effort that forced Blackburn into producing 29 turnovers.

The Panthers (12-3, 6-2 SLIAC) host Webster on Saturday at 3 p.m.  Greenville currently sits in third place in the SLIAC standings as they are a full game behind Westminster and trailing Iowa Wesleyan by one half game.
